Trichotillomania

Trichotillomania, or “trich” for short….is a hair pulling, body focused repetitive behavior (BFRB ) most often referred to as an impulse control disorder or “OCD”.

It manifests differently for everyone, but the result is often the same; the pulling out of one’s own hair. Most people who have trich describe the pulling episodes as dissociative- a period of time where a “zoning out” state of mind takes over to alleviate anxiety, or other feelings that are super difficult to sit with when wide awake.

The clients I work with in the salon often report a disappointment or shame spiral after an episode of pulling. Especially when the missing hair from the head, brows and lashes become noticeable to others.

I can help in the decision process of finding creative haircut solutions, toppers, or wigs based on the areas of hair loss you are working with.
